(Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) — Today, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. sat in front of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce to discuss Trump’s 2027 budget. 314 Action President Shaughnessy Naughton released the following statement in response:
“RFK Jr. spent the entire hearing evading any and all responsibility for failing to keep Americans safe and healthy. When directly questioned about his tenure as HHS Secretary, RFK Jr. froze, ducked, and dodged. He couldn’t answer for his cuts to medical and scientific research, wouldn’t promise to follow the guidance of the CDC Director, and refused to take accountability for spreading dangerous vaccine misinformation.
“This is RFK Jr.’s legacy—a public health crisis that will last generations and make Americans sicker.”
Earlier this month, 314 Action released a new national poll with Data for Progress that shows support for RFK Jr.’s MAHA movement is weak, with more than 1 in 3 voters rejecting the MAHA movement, with half of Independent and swing district voters saying that MAHA is not delivering on its promises.
314 Action Lawmaker Highlights:
Representative Kim Schrier (WA-08):
“It’s called the RFK Jr. Spillover Effect. You spread misinformation, you scare parents and confuse them. Parents don’t immunize their children or give them other routine care and then the kids get sick and might even die.”
“You are basically sentencing thousands of kids to a terrible chronic illness that you ‘want to prevent,’ for no reason.”
Representative Raul Ruiz (CA-25):
“The American people think your anti-vaccination crusade is too extreme. A KFF poll shows that 55% of the Americans disapprove—with 37% strongly disapprove of your work, Mr. Secretary. 56% have little to no confidence. The majority have little to no confidence in your work with vaccines.
“And you keep losing. Americans are sicker now more than ever.”
