Measles is Out of Control as Two More People Die.
Today, ABC News reported that two people have died in Pennsylvania from measles, according to the state’s health department. It’s the first time the state has reported deaths from measles in 35 years. With 2,777 reported cases largely infecting unvaccinated children, this is the largest American measles outbreak in decades. In response, 314 Action President Shaughnessy Naughton released the following statement:
“Measles is officially out of control. How many more people need to die before there is a nationwide call for RFK Jr. to resign? “While Trump and RFK Jr. have spent the past week undermining confidence in the MMR shot, more unvaccinated people have died from measles. This is a public health crisis and we can’t afford for immunization rates to continue to crater below safe levels. Decades of research have shown that childhood vaccines are overwhelmingly safe and effective, and a new poll shows that 71% of Americans say that doctors and scientists, not Trump, should make decisions about childhood vaccines. It’s time for RFK Jr. to step aside before he inflicts more harm. 314 Action is calling for the immediate resignation or removal of RFK Jr. from office and urges the newly appointed CDC Director Erica Schwartz to come out of the shadows and address this life-threatening outbreak.”
